OUR MISSION

EQUIP THE YOUTH OF OTR WITH PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL SKILLS TO LEAD IN THEIR COMMUNITY.

We seek to create an OTR where youth have futures filled with expansive opportunities with the leadership skills and support to achieve their goals.

OUR HISTORY:

Future Leaders OTR began as an idea in the summer of 2012 when a group of neighbors and newer residents to OTR asked the question: “what opportunities are available for the youth of OTR during the summer?” This simple question spurred a conversation that grew to involve Cincinnati Police District 1, local faith leaders, and other community activists. Over the course of many months and meetings, the conclusion was reached that OTR youth should have the opportunity to grow, experience and be exposed to new ideas and skills year-round. Thus began Future Leaders OTR.

Throughout 2013 and into the beginning of 2014, we continued to define what Future Leaders OTR should be. We also found a meeting place through the generosity of the OTR Senior Center, found an interim Program Manager and recruited youth from OTR. Finally, on May 31, 2014 we held our first orientation for youth and parents.

Since then, Future Leaders OTR has formalized the vision and mission, found a permanent home and launched our annual fundraiser, the Holiday Home Tour. With our successful fundraising campaigns we were also able to send two Future Leaders to Germany to partake in the Sister Cities program.

Thanks to the generosity of the community and the sweat-equity of the youth, Future Leaders OTR has a beautiful space to call home, dedicated volunteers and increasing opportunities for growth. We appreciate your support and inspiration!
